The Value of Direct Instruction in Middle School

Introductory Paragraph:  Reading achievement in school is a strong predictor for academic success. Direct Instruction is one practice that is supported by research and assists some students with improving specific reading competencies. This article explains the value of Direct Instruction and how it can be implemented in a one-on-one, middle school setting. Direct Instruction may help with improving reading fluency, understanding main idea and details, and developing comprehension.
