March 13, 2012: Western Illinois Reading Council and Illinois Valley Reading Council will host Igniting A Passion For Reading with Steven L. Layne from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kickapoo Creek Winery, 6605 N. Smith Road, Edwards, Illinois. Registration is $25 for Illinois Valley and WIRC members, $30 for non-members, and $20 for preservice teachers. CPDU's are available. The deadline to register is Mach 1st.
March 15-17, 2012: Illinois Reading Council will host the 44th Annual IRC Conference, Literacy in the Land of Lincoln, in Springfield, Illinois. Please take a moment to peruse the Conference Preview. Housing and Registration forms will be available in October 2011!
April 11, 2012: Western Illinois Reading Council will host the Latest in Children's Literature with Pamela Godt from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Copperfields Bookstore, 118 N. Side Square, Macomb, Illinois. The bookstore will be open after the event for purchases. The cost to register is $2 for WIRC members and $5 for non-members. One CPDU will be available. April 29-May 2, 2012: International Reading Association will host the 57th Annual Convention, Celebrating Teaching, in Chicago, Illinois. To find out more about this convention, check out the Annual Convention section at www.iraconvention.org.
May 5, 2012: Western Illinois Reading Council will host the Young Authors Celebration from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Western Illinois University, Horrabin Hall, One University Circle, Macomb, Illinois. The event will provide an opportunity for local K through 5th grade authors to present their stories. Admission is FREE to this event!
