September 15, 2010:  Secondary Reading League (SRL) is accepting applications for two 2010 SRL Literacy Grants of $500 to develop innovative literacy projects in a school or classroom.  SRL members can download the application at www.dayofreading.org.  The winners will be announced at the 34th Day of Reading in November.  For more information, please contact Gail Huizinga, the SRL Literacy Grant chair. 

October 2, 2010:  Secondary Reading League (SRL) will host RtI from the Teacher View from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Hotel, 7800 South Kingery Highway, Willowbrook, Illinois.  Speakers will include Deb Hayes, Laura Beltchenko, and Rebecca Binks. 

November 5-6, 2010:  Secondary Reading League (SRL) will host the 34th Day of Reading featuring Neal Shusterman and Judith Irvin from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 at the Holiday Inn Select Hotel and Convention Center, 185th & Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois.  A new pre-conference workshop will be held on November 5th.  For more information and registration details, please visit www.dayofreading.org. 

February 26, 2011:  Secondary Reading League (SRL) will host QAR is for Adolescents, Too! with Taffy Raphael from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Hotel, 7800 South Kingery Highway, Willowbrook, Illinois. 

March 17-19, 2011:  Illinois Reading Council will host the 43rd Annual IRC Conference, Literacy Outside the Box!, in Springfield, Illinois.  Please take a moment to peruse the Conference Preview highlighting the award-winning authors and dynamic speakers that will help you explore Literacy Outside the Box!  Registration and Housing will be available in October 2010.

March 18, 2011:  Secondary Reading League (SRL) will host a Secondary Strand of Literacy Presentations at the 2011 IRC Conference, Springfield Hilton Hotel, 700 East Adams Street, Springfield, Illinois. For more information, please contact Donna Monti. 

April 2011:  Secondary Reading League (SRL) will host a Book Talk with Jan Dundon from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, 131 W. Jefferson Avenue, Naperville, Illinois.  Registration is $20 for SRL members, $30 for non-members, and $35 at the door.   

May 8-11, 2011: International Reading Association will host the 56th Annual Convention, The Power of Literacy, in Orlando, Florida.  To find out more about this exciting convention, check out the Annual Convention section at www.reading.org.
