February 1, 2012: South Suburban Reading Council is accepting nominations for the Celebrate Literacy Award for a local individual, agency, or institution that has made significant contributions in the field of literacy. The winner will be announced at the South Suburban Reading Council meeting in May.
February 2, 2012: South Suburban Reading Council
will host Skype Sisters with Pam Bartusiewicz and Linda Tatum at Silver Lake Country Club, 14700 West 82nd Avenue, Orland Park, Illinois. Skype Sisters will demonstrate how teachers can Skype with other classrooms whether down the hall or across the world! They will also show how to connect with a live author chat and just how easy it is to apply to your every day reading instruction. Registration costs $23 for South Suburban members, $28 for non-members, and $12 for perservice teachers. Reservations are due January 13, 2012.
March 8, 2012: South Suburban Reading Council
will host an event with Carolyn Crimi, of the Three Silly Chicks, at Scrementi's, 3760 Chicago Road, Steger, Illinois. For more information, please contact Megan Wrzesinski.
March 15-17, 2012: Illinois Reading Council will host the 44th Annual IRC Conference, Literacy in the Land of Lincoln, in Springfield, Illinois. Please take a moment to peruse the Conference Preview. Housing and Registration forms will be available in October 2011!
April 29-May 2, 2012: International Reading Association will host the 57th Annual Convention, Celebrating Teaching, in Chicago, Illinois. To find out more about this convention, check out the Annual Convention section at www.iraconvention.org.
