March 15-17, 2012: Illinois Reading Council will host the 44th Annual IRC Conference, Literacy in the Land of Lincoln, in Springfield, Illinois. Please take a moment to peruse the Conference Preview. Housing and Registration forms will be available in October 2011!
March 23, 2012: Southern Illinois Reading Council is accepting submissions for the 2012 Short Story Contest. There will be three Southern Illinois winners will be chose in grades second through eighth to be compiled into an SIRC 2012 Short Story Contest Yearbook. Winners will be notified by April 6, 2012 and invited to the SIRC's Spring Celebration and Reception on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Carbondale Civic Center, where they will receive an award. First place winners will read their winning stories. Entries must be posted by March 23rd!
April 24, 2012: Southern Illinois Reading Council
will host the Spring Celebrations Young Author Night at 6:00 p.m. at the Carbondale Civic Center, 200 S. Illinois Avenue, Carbondale, Illinois. For more information, please
