November 2, 2013: Illini Reading Council will host a Practical Content Area Strategies for Science and Social Studies with Kristen Stombres and Joy Towner from 9:00 to 11:45 am at the Mellon Administrative Building, 703 S. New, Champaign, Illinois. The cost to register is $10 for Illini members, $15 for non-members, and $5.00 for Preservice Teachers. CPDUs will be available.
November 21, 2013: Illini Reading Council will host an Illinois Reads Family Literacy Day and Bookfair from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 51 E. Marketview, Champaign, Illinois. This is a FREE event and proceeds will be used to purchase Illinois Reads books for local school libraries. Illini will also be sponsoring three school visits and one bookstore presentation by Illinois Reads Author Patricia Murphy. Patricia Murphy will be presenting at Garden Hills, Stratton, and Thomas Paine Elementary Schools. At 7:00 pm, Patricia will be presenting at the Barnes and Noble.
January 28, 2014: Illini Reading Council will host Using Children's Literature to Frame Mathematic Instruction from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The cost to register is $10 for Illini members, $15 for non-members, and $5 for Preservice Teachers. The location will be announced soon.
March 13-15, 2014: Illinois Reading Council will host the 46th Annual IRC Conference, Building Bridges to Literacy, in Springfield, Illinois. Please take a moment to peruse the online Conference Preview. Housing and Registration forms will be available in the Conference Preliminary Program in October!
April 5, 2014: Illini Reading Council will host Igniting a Passion for Reading with Steven L. Layne from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. Event details will be available soon.
May 9-12, 2014: International Reading Associationwill host the 59th Annual Convention, Reading...The Teachable Moment, in New Orleans, Louisiana. To find out more about this convention, check out the Annual Convention section at www.iraconvention.org.
