Dear Conference Attendees,
On behalf of the Illinois Reading Council Executive Board, the IRC Staff, the Conference Committee members, and indeed, the IRC membership itself, thank you for attending the 43rd Annual Illinois Reading Council Conference: Literacy Outside the Box! A hearty thank you to everyone who helped make this conference a reality, and to the attendees who make it such an exciting place to be!
Once again the conference was packed with over 300 sessions offered by people who are brilliant and passionate about what they do and how they do it, along with fascinating authors and illustrators from a wide variety of backgrounds, interests, and talents. We hoped you enjoyed the usual IRC events that you have come to know and love: Storytelling, the Poetry Coffeehouse, Anderson’s Book Gossip, and the highly entertaining Hear the Authors Read. We also hope you enjoyed some of the new things: the Career Strand and the Librarian Strand, Barry Lane’s energizing Literacy Cabaret, and probably most notable, the technology including the SMART Board Strand, the Apple Classroom, an Internet Cafe, and an area where you may practice using SMART Boards!
IRC already has many outstanding literacy leaders and award-winning authors planned for 2012. It is not too early to start planning now to attend the 2012 IRC Conference, Literacy in the Land of Lincoln, from March 15-17, 2012 in Springfield, Illinois. We hope to see you there!
