Thousands of literacy advocates, educators, and researchers will gather from October 4-6, 2018 for the 51st Annual IRC Conference, Read the World, at the Peoria Civic Center and Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette Hotel in Peoria, Illinois.
Registering?Pre-register for the 2018 IRC Conference by returning the Registration Form by Mail/Fax or on the secured Online Conference Registration System. Please note that early registration with discounted prices ends on September 5, 2018! On-site registration is recommended for those registering after September 15th. Please note that the meal functions require pre-purchased tickets and will not be available for purchase on-site. Individuals who need special accommodations must make specific requests in writing to the IRC Office at least three weeks prior to the conference. Not an IRC Member?Register today for $215 and it includes your conference registration for $170 and membership fees for $45 for a savings of $5. Fill out the conference registration form ONLY and indicating your preferred local or special interest council to join.

Housing Reservations? Special rates have been negotiated at Peoria area hotels. To obtain these special rates, reservations must be made directly with the hotels either by phone or online by August 15, 2018. Some of the East Peoria Hotels will provide guests with complimentary shuttle to and from the Peoria Civic Center. Shuttle arrangements can be made directly with the front desk at each hotel. Join the IRC Book Club? Educators from all over the state will be reading, reflecting on, and responding to A Novel Approach by Kate Roberts and/or Writers ARE Readers by Lester L. Laminack and Reba M. Wadsworth. These seven-week online discussions, beginning June 24, will help you see the power of whole class novels to build a community in your classroom and/or how a reader’s insights can be turned around to provide insights into their own writing. Participants who complete all assignments will be eligible to receive 15 PD clock hours for each book club. Participants who participate in one book club during the summer will have the opportunity to participate in the other one during the fall session, which will be offered in October after the 2018 IRC Conference. Register online or by mail/fax by June 15, 2018.
Order a Conference Shirt? Preorder your shirts by August 15, 2018! Conference Shirts can be placed online or by mail/fax. Only preorders will be available for pick-up at the IRC Conference at the Registration Area in the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. Shirts will not be available for purchase at the conference.
Interested in PD Clock Hours? Forms for PD Clock Hours will be available at the conference in your Final Program Book. The Illinois Principals Association will also be offering AA credit for the Administrator Academy with Mindy Pudlo on Thursday.
Interested in Volunteering? IRC is looking for volunteers to work at the 2018 IRC Conference in the registration booth, at conference events, and in many other areas.
