Thousands of literacy advocates, educators, and researchers will gather from September 29-October 1, 2016 for the 49th Annual IRC Conference, Reading: Unlocking Opportunities, at the Peoria Civic Center and Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette Hotel in Peoria, Illinois.
Registering?Pre-register for the 2016 IRC Conference by returning the Registration Form by Mail/Fax or on the secured Online Conference Registration System. Please note that early registration with discounted prices ends on August 15, 2016! On-site registration is recommended for those registering after September 15, 2016. Please note that the meal functions require pre-purchased tickets and will not be available for purchase on-site. Individuals who need special accommodations must make specific requests in writing to the IRC Office at least three weeks prior to the conference. Not an IRC Member? Register today for $205 and it includes your conference registration for $160 and membership fees for $45 for a savings of $5. Fill out the conference registration form ONLY and indicating your preferred local or special interest council to join.

Housing Reservations? Special rates have been negotiated at Peoria area hotels. To obtain these special rates, reservations must be made directly with the hotels either by phone or online by August 15, 2016. Some of the East Peoria Hotels will provide guests with complimentary shuttle to and from the Peoria Civic Center. Shuttle arrangements can be made directly with the front desk at each hotel. Join the IRC Book Club? Join educators from all over the state in an online book club! Read, reflect, and respond to Reading Nonfiction: Notice & Note Stances, Signposts, and Strategies by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst. This nine-week course, beginning June 12, will focus on principles and strategies presented in Beers and Probst’s text that will help students comprehend nonfiction text. Participants who complete all assignments are eligible to receive 15 PD clock hours at the conclusion of the book club. The expected time commitment for participants is approximately 1.5-2.0 hours/week. Register online by June 1, 2016 to participate in the book club. Registration is FREE for IRC Members. The cost for non-members is $45, which includes IRC membership for one year. Book club participants also have the opportunity to attend sessions with Kylene Beers and Robert Probst at the 2016 IRC Conference. PLEASE NOTE: Conference registration and cost of book is not included.
Order a Conference Shirt? Preorder your shirt by August 15, 2016! Conference Shirts can be placed online or by mail/fax. Only preorders will be available for pick-up at the IRC Conference near the Registration Area in the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. Shirts will not be available for purchase at the conference.
Interested in CPDUs or University Course Credit? Forms for PD CLOCK HOURS will be available at the conference in your Final Program Book. Conferees can also earn one to three hours of college course credit while attending the conference from the University of St. Francis.
