Thousands of literacy advocates, educators, and researchers will gather from March 13-15, 2014 for the 46th Annual IRC Conference, Building Bridges to Literacy, at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel, Hilton Springfield Hotel, and Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois.
Registering? On-site registration is recommended for those registering after March 1, 2014. Please note that the meal functions require pre-purchased tickets and will not be available for purchase on-site. Individuals who need special accommodations must make specific requests in writing to the IRC Office at least three weeks prior to the conference.
Already Registered? Your registration packet including your name badge and the final program book will be available at the IRC Registration Desk at the Prairie Capital Convention Center, 8th and Adams, Springfield, Illinois. Registration Hours are 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12th; 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13th and Friday, March 14th; and 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15th.

Final Program Book on IRC Ning! To find out more about the upcoming conference, join the IRC Ning today at http://illinoisreadingcouncil.ning.com/. On the IRC Ning, you can join a discussion group, chat with other educators, or access handouts from presenters and featured speakers all year long. After March 5th, you will be able to preview the Final Program Book and start planning your time at the conference. You can also receive conference updates by email including any cancelations or changes.
Free Shuttle Service. IRC will provide FREE Shuttle Service between all the hotels except the on-site hotels listed and the Prairie Capital Convention Center on Thursday and Friday. Shuttles run approximately every 45-60 minutes from 6:15 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Night shuttles run every 90 minutes from 6:15 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. On Saturday, there are many parking options available and on-street metered parking is FREE!
Ordered a Conference or IRC Shirt? Preorders will be available for pick-up at the IRC Conference near the Registration Area in the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois. A limited number of shirts will be available for purchase at the conference. Please ask for details at the IRC Registration Desk.
Housing Reservations? The Online Housing Reservation System closed on February 19, 2014. Please call the hotels directly to make reservations. For those conferees that made reservations through the housing system, make sure that you received an email confirmation from your selected hotel. After February 19th, please make changes directly with the hotel.
Interested in CPDUs or University Course Credit? Forms for CPDU credit will be available at the conference in your Final Program Book. Conferees can also earn one hour of college course credit while attending the conference from National-Louis University. The Graduate Registration Form can be submitted until March 30, 2014.
Welcome Reception and Illinois Reads Launch. Plan now to attend the opening reception on Wednesday, March 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Old State Capitol. Many special guests have been invited to attend for the launch of the Illinois Reads project. Illinois Reads will be a yearly statewide project to promote reading for all Illinois citizens.
